Flowers of Crape Myrtle
This picture is Crape Myrtle. As I said in another post for Crape Myrtle, we call this plant as “Saru Suberi” in Japan because the tree surface is very smooth.
But the written name of this tree is “百日紅”; this means 100 days red because the flowering term of this plant is very long. We don’t write this plant name as “猿滑り (means monkey slip)”.
Sorry this explanation became a little bit complicated.

Japanese Crepemyrtle Photo
As I mentioned in previous post, Crepe Myrtle trees are called “monkey slip tree (Saru Suberi)” in Japan. See now you can understand from the picture how slippery this tree is. (But actually I have never seen a monkey slip and fall down from this tree.)

Crape Myrtle Tree
This photo is Crape Myrtle tree. Real tree was very beautiful but due to my camera and my skill for taking picture, the result become like this picture. Sorry.
Anyway trees of Myrtle is called as “Saru-Suberi” in Japan. “Saru” means monkey and “Suberi (Suberu)” means slip. This Japanese name came from the smooth surface of this tree.
