Meserve Holly is known as Blue Holly because the leaves color of this holly are bluish green. This holly is a hybrid shrub for adding cold hardiness to a beautiful holly. So this holly can be grown in northern USA area easily. Meserve Holly Grows up to 3.6m (12 feet) height and 2.7m (9 feet) width.

Butcher's Broom
This photo is Butcher’s Broom. Butcher’s Broom is a little bit funny and strange name as a name of plant for me. This plant is also known as Box Holly, Sweet Broom, Knee Holly and these are much more normal for me.
Even though the name of this shrub is funny, Butcher’s Broom is being used in medical area in several ways and also young shoots are often treated as vegetable in many countries.

Leaves of False Arborviate
False Arborviate is sometime treated as shrub in USA because this tree was developed in many ways and created ornamental purpose shrub from original Japanese False Arborviate. In Japan we call this tree as “Hiba” (檜葉) and grows up to 36m (120 feet) height and used many way such as for housing woods or for kitchen goods because this tree is durable against insects, molds and water. So this tree is very useful and important tree in Japan.

Nellie Stevens Holly
Nellie Stevens Holly is easy to grow holly and grows up to 12m (40 feet) height and 4.5 m (15 feet) width. Even though many hollies categorized in shrub, this Nellie Stevens Holly is categorized as tree and forms pyramidal shape without big pruning cares. The berries and foliages are beautiful and good as a garden tree.

Winterberry Holly
Winterberry Holly is very popular shrub in USA. It grows up to 4.5m (15 feet) height and 3m (10 feet) width. Even though this shrub prefers to be planted in wet land area, it can grow in regular yard area, too. You can enjoy beautiful red (sometimes orange) berries in winter season.

Berries of Myrtle Leaf Holly
Myrtle Leaf Holly grows up to 7.5m (25 feet). This shrub prefers moist soil. And this shrub (tree) has berries in fall to winter season on female tree and sometime they are used as Christmas decoration. The color berries are sometime yellow or orange.

Yellow Berries of Dahoon Holly
This photo is Dahoon Holly. This holly is popular in the south east area of USA. Dahoon Holly prefers to grow in the wet land area and grows up to 9m (30feet). The berries of this shrub are good food for wild birds during winter season.

Evergreen SpiceBush
Evergreen SpiceBush has glossy beautiful leaves and the flowers of this shrub are small greenish yellow and not so showy. This shrub prefers to be planted in the area of partial shade. This shrub grows up to 2.5m (8 feet) tall.

Purple Beautyberry
Purple Beautyberry is very beautiful shrub when it has pale purple berries along its branches as you can see on the picture. This shrub grows up to 1.5m (5feet) in the area of full sun or partial shade and has tiny flowers in summer season.

Heavenly Bamboo
We call Heavenly Bamboo as “Nanten (南天)”. In Japan we are using whole of this plant as some medicines even though the leaves of this tree contains some toxic substances.
This is very popular shrub and plants in Japan as a garden tree. And the berries of Heavenly Bamboo are very important food for wild birds during winter season in Japan.
