White Flower of Magnolia Stelata
This white flower is Magnolia Stelata. Magnolia Stelata is also called Star Magnolia and has flowers in early spring before leaves. The flowers have fragrant smell even though it is not so strong. The sizes of flowers are about 7 to 10cm (3 to 4 inches) and are beautiful on bear branches. Magnolia Stelata is a shrub and grows 6m (20 feet) height and 4.5m (15 feet) width even though the growth speed is slow.

Flowers of Japanese Pieris
These cute white flowers are Japanese Pieris ones. This evergreen shrub is often called as Lily of the Valley Shrub because, as you can easily understand from the picture, the flowers of this plant are very alike to the ones of Lily of the Valley. The flowers are fragrant and bloom in early spring. And this plant has evergreen beautiful foliage so this shrub is loved as yard plant even though Japanese Pieris is toxic plant.

Flowers of Fragrant Winterhazel
Fragrant Winterhazel is called “Tosa-Mizuki (土佐水木)” in Japan and planted as a garden plant for enjoying it flowers (early spring) and leaves (autumn). This plant is a shrub and prefers full sun or partially shaded are and grows 4.5m (15 feet) height. Flowers form small clusters with 7-14 tiny flowers as you can see on the picture.

Flower Clusters of Leatherleaf Mahonia
Leatherleaf Mahonia is also known as “Beale’s Barberry”. This plant is an evergreen shrub and grows about 3.6m (12 feet) height and 2.4m (8 feet) width and prefers in shaded area. Leatherleaf Mahonia has clusters of tiny flowers in late winter or early spring as you can see in the picture. So I think this shrub become good yard shrub for your garden landscaping and more over this shrub is very easy to grow.

Himalayan Sweetbox is evergreen shrub even though this plant sometime is used as ground cover. Himalayan Sweetbox grows 1.5m (5 feet) height and width and grows well in shaded area. Himalayan Sweetbox has fragrant white small flowers in early spring.
