Japanese Torreya is a very slow growing evergreen tree. As a landscaping tree, it grows up to 9m (30 feet) height and width, but in nature field Japanese Torreya reaches 25m (83 feet) height and forms pyramidal shape. The leaves of this tree are hard and spiny and the fruits of this tree are edible. In Japan we call this tree as “Kaya (榧 -かや)” and used as playing board for ” Go (碁) ” game or Shougi ” (将棋) ” game (Japanese Chess). Of course Japanese Torreya is native to Japan.
